Your Obligations

As driver and owner of your vehicle you have certain duties and obligations which must be met. We have provided some guidelines to assist you throughout the ownership of your vehicle.

Upon your new vehicle being delivered

When your vehicle is delivered, please ensure that you complete a thorough inspection of the vehicle to confirm the following:

  • The vehicle matches the order you placed, including any options selected.
  • There is no damage on the vehicle.

If you are not entirely happy with the vehicle when it is delivered, please contact the Helpdesk at help@carbenefitsolutions.co.uk or on 0161 826 0000. Do not accept or drive the car until you are satisfied that any issues have been resolved.

Regular Vehicle Checks

It is important to note that even if your vehicle is covered by a full maintenance package, you must still perform regular checks. To ensure that your vehicle remains in good condition, we recommend the following weekly checks:

  • Tyre condition/pressure.
  • Fluid levels i.e. oil/water.

Tyre Checks

Tyre checks should include monitoring the pressure, tread depth and overall condition of the tyres whilst looking for signs of irregular wear including inner and outer tyre walls. You should also check that your spare tyre (where available) is always in good condition.

Oil Checks

You should refer to your vehicle handbook for the correct oil specification for your vehicle. It is important that you use the correct oil for your vehicle as to not do so could result in costly damage to your engine.

How to check the oil level of the vehicle:

  • Ensure the engine is cool and the vehicle has been stationary for a while.
  • Withdraw dipstick and wipe clean with tissue to ensure a clear reading.
  • Insert dipstick and withdraw slowly and smoothly.
  • Check oil level line against minimum and maximum lines on dipstick - oil level should be between the two. If level is below or close to minimum line, top up.
  • Alternatively, your vehicle may not have a dipstick, in which case you should be able to check the vehicle's oil level using the on-board computer.
  • Be careful not to overfill your car with oil - always fill a little at a time, using a jug or funnel. Allow the oil to gather in the sump and check the level again before adding more if needed.

Overfilling could cause the following problems:

  • Serious damage to main crankshaft seals.
  • Oil spilling on to the clutch.
  • Damage to the catalytic converter.

Please note: Oil consumption for new engines may be slightly higher than normal and they could use as much as 1 litre of oil for every 1000 miles, meaning that regular weekly checks are critical. Failure to maintain the correct level of oil may result in serious damage to your engine for which you will be liable.

If you are unsure as to the service schedule on your vehicle, please refer to the vehicles user manual.
