Driver Guidance

As driver and owner of your vehicle you have certain duties and obligations which must be met. We have provided some guidelines to assist you throughout the ownership of your vehicle.

Upon your new vehicle being delivered

When your vehicle is delivered please ensure that you complete a thorough inspection of the vehicle to confirm the following:

  • The vehicle matches the order you placed.
  • There is no damage on the vehicle.

If you are not entirely happy with the vehicle when it is delivered do not accept the car or drive it. Please contact your Scheme Co-ordinator.

Regular Vehicle Checks

To retain your vehicle's top condition we recommend the following weekly checks. It is important to note that although your vehicle is covered by a full maintenance package you must still perform regular checks which should include checking the tyre condition/pressure and also the fluid levels (oil/water) in your vehicle.

When an engine is new and “Running in” the oil consumption may be slightly higher than normal and could use as much as 1 litre every 1,000 miles, therefore regular weekly checks by yourself are critical. Failure to do so may result in serious damage to your engine and a re-charge of any costs incurred.

How to check the tyres of the vehicle

The Tyre Industry Council have devised a five point tyre check:

  • Check all tyre pressures.
  • Check signs of irregular wear, i.e. alignment.
  • Check and examine the spare tyre.
  • Check tyre tread depth.
  • Check overall condition of tyres, including inner and outer sidewalls.

Make sure that you have the correct pressures in the front and rear tyres of your car. Check your vehicle user manual to ensure that you have the correct tyre pressure. Many vehicles today do have different tyre pressures in the front and the rear.

Stick to the service schedule

If you are unsure as to the service schedule on your vehicle, speak to a {{genericTags.primaryManufacturerName}} representative or refer to the vehicles user manual.

All necessary servicing on your {{genericTags.primaryManufacturerName}} vehicle must be completed by an approved {{genericTags.primaryManufacturerName}} technician. If work is carried out by a technician that is not approved or there is an incomplete service history at the end of your agreement, you will be liable for a penalty charge.

Don’t drive if the vehicle is defective

If at any time you feel the vehicle is defective, please pull over where and when it is safe to do so and call your breakdown provider.

Repairing any damage

Please make arrangements to repair any known defects as soon as possible to ensure the safe operation of your vehicle. Should you require any guidance please speak to a {{genericTags.primaryManufacturerName}} {{genericTags.clientNetwork}} representative.

On returning your vehicle

If you return your vehicle at any time, a vehicle inspection will be carried out by an approved Hyundai representative which must be signed by yourself or someone on behalf of you and your employer.

Please could you also ensure that on the return of your vehicle it is clean (inside and outside) and all car documentation including service book, security codes, alloy wheel keys, remote unlocking devices and keys are presented with the vehicle. All personal effects must be removed. Please refer to the End of Agreement Checklist.

Passenger Safety

As the driver of the vehicle you must ensure that you and all passengers in the vehicle wear a seatbelt. Failure to do so could result in a £30 fixed penalty notice or a maximum £500 fine.

Driving Licence

You must at all times be the holder of a full and valid driving licence. We recommend that you keep your licence with you at all times.

Speed Limits

It's important to remember that a speed limit is just that - the top speed that you can drive at on any particular road. Therefore you must ensure that you adjust your speed in accordance with the road conditions and always stay within the limits.

Vehicle Use

At all times your vehicle must be driven in accordance with the applicable motor insurance policy and your employer's instructions.
